Folks,
It was a COLD but interesting night out under the heavens on Saturday the 27th. The moon blasted most things right out of the sky, but Stan and Don and I enjoyed the moon, Saturn, the Blinking Nebula, the Blue Snowball, M15, M57, M31, M32 (or was it M110?), Gamma Andromedae, Polaris and M42. Not bad for a moon blighted night with cold winds and LOTS of clouds.
The moon will rise at 9:06 PM on Wednesday night and the forecast looks good for that night. How about early, say 6:30 PM on Wednesday at Lubbock Lake Landmark? I realize Skyview or Emma would be better, given the relative darkness of the sky till 9 PM, but if the snow or rain we're forecast materializes (and it's been quite good at that lately!) our dark sky sites guarantee a muddy, car smattering endeavor. At least LLL has the tree line to the south to break the wind.
Of course, if the weatherman is WRONG and Wednesday is overcast, we'll re-schedule another time, but hope to see you Wednesday!
Clear Skies!
CDS
